A RESOLUTION COMMENDING THE LIFE OF MR. KENNETH BAKER AND EXPRESSING DEEPEST SYMPATHY TO HIS FAMILY AND FRIENDS UPON HIS PASSING.

WHEREAS, Mr. Baker, a native of Tallassee, Alabama, departed this life, causing great loss to his family and friends; and

WHEREAS, after graduating from Tallassee High School in 1957, Mr. Baker attended Auburn University, where he received a bachelor's and a master's degree; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Baker taught school for eight years in Fort Walton Beach, Florida, before moving to Gautier with his family in 1971; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Baker was named assistant principal at Pascagoula Junior High School in August 1971, and one year later he was named principal, where he stayed until his retirement in 1995; and

WHEREAS, an active member of his community, Mr. Baker was involved in several educational organizations, coached little league and participated in the "Greater PJ-Ken Baker Open"; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Baker is survived by his lovely wife, the former Norma Morgan Baker; their children, James Michael Baker, Greg Baker, Russell Lee Baker and Meredith Baker Hartley; and three grandchildren, James Chad Baker, Jessica Rene Baker and NaCole Williams; and

WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives of the State of Mississippi to recognize and pay special tribute to Mr. Baker, whose long and distinguished career in education touched the lives of many children across this State:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend the life of Mr. Kenneth Baker and express our deepest sympathy to his family upon his passing.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to the family of Mr. Kenneth Baker, the Principal of Pascagoula Junior High School and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
